The center of Paris is full of centuries-old buildings with impressive facades, but as a tourist you rarely get to see the inside of one of the buildings other than the main tourist buildings. There are however a few hidden gems, if you know where to look!
Near the city’s absolute central point, in the 2nd district (2ème arrondissement), a few covered galleries offer a unique taste of the 19th century atmosphere. Different from the more modern and famous malls of Lafayette and Saint-Lazare, here are three galleries that are essentially covered shopping streets that make you feel like you’ve taken a step back in time. And the best thing about them: they’re really close to each other, so you can visit all of them in a single day!
